A Message from Your Senate President & Senate President Pro-Tempore

As we embark on another promising academic year, the Moricette-Jackson administration would like to welcome all incoming and returning Rattlers to Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. There is much to look forward to and it starts with the 48th Student Senate. This senate body is unique and is a true representation of the 14 colleges and schools that make up our university. With 35 student senators, each area of study is represented in some way, shape, or form. The senate uses this diverse representation to effectively make decisions that will benefit the entire population. This is a responsibility that the senate does not take lightly.

Additionally, the Senate will strive to uphold the motto of the Student Government Association,” Leadership and Service” both in and out of the classroom. We will focus on large scale initiatives and functions that will allow the students to make the most out of their FAMU experience. Concurrently, we will create and implement solutions to campus wide problems to confirm that our student’s needs are met. We encourage the student body to be engage in student processes, attend weekly Senate meetings and initiate open dialogue with their representatives. This avenue that will lead to growth from both students and representative alike, it will also provide an opportunity to develop new processes to further guarantee that the Student Senate is operating as efficiently as possible.

The Moricette-Jackson administration is excited for the academic year for a plethora of reasons. There is much work to be done and thousands of students to be reached. While the workload is incredible, with a cohesive effort from all of its members, it is not impossible. The 48th Student Senate will promote fiscal responsibility during allocation season, social engagement throughout the course of the semester and innovative methods of communication to ensure transparency. As your student leaders, we have to ensure that our decisions are aligned with the voices of the people; This means that the student’s voices will not only be heard but will be acted upon because FAMU, you are not a number and we will never cease to advocate on your behalf.

Rattler Regards,

Senate Leadership
